A concise pack can make the key numbers easier to review: what happened, why, and what changed in cash. Cadence prepares it to your template and agreed timetable, from books we or you keep, with a draft variance note for your review.
The pack reaches you as a draft with a variance note and a list of judgement calls we made or need you to make: an accrual estimate, a doubtful debt, a capitalisation decision. You approve or adjust, and the final pack goes to the client under your name, or to your own management if you are the business. We do not present the pack, attend the board meeting or advise on what the numbers mean for the business. Where a firm wants us on the call to walk through the mechanics, that is a workflow you set up and we join in your name.
The working days below show one possible sequence. Actual deadlines and review steps are agreed in the engagement scope.
| Working day | What happens |
|---|---|
| WD1 to WD3 | Bookkeeping closed for the month (by us or by you); bank, control and intercompany reconciliations signed off |
| WD3 to WD5 | Month-end journals posted; trial balance reviewed for unusual movements; KPIs calculated |
| WD5 to WD7 | Draft pack and variance note built; second review inside Cadence; handover with judgement-call list |
| WD7 to WD9 | Your review; adjustments made; final pack issued under your name |
| WD10 | Rolling forecast updated; standing issues log reviewed with the delivery lead |
This is a hypothetical planning example, not a Cadence client result. A software business with an outside investor might need a monthly pack in the investor's format, with ARR, churn, gross margin and cash runway. Its accountant could retain year-end and tax while a delivery team prepares the monthly pack. The scope would set the close, handover and review dates. The business and its accountant would measure whether the arrangement saves time and meets the investor's needs.
Ledger and reporting tools are agreed during scoping. They may include Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, MYOB, Tally, Zoho Books, Excel, Google Sheets, Fathom, Syft, Spotlight Reporting or Power BI. The proposal sets out user access and working-paper handling.
The proposal sets the fee, billing basis, close responsibilities, pack format and any trial terms before work starts. Request a proposal to discuss your scope.
Questions about this service
Yes. Most firm engagements run on the firm's existing template, branded as the firm's own work. Where a firm has no template we start from a two-page format and adapt it with you.
The handover and review dates are agreed during scoping. The close, source records and pack format determine the schedule.
We draft the variance narrative: what moved, by how much, and the likely cause visible in the ledger. You edit it and own it. Advice on what the business should do about it is yours, not ours.
Yes, including multi-currency consolidations and intercompany eliminations, in Excel or your consolidation tool.
Either. Weekly bookkeeping can be bundled with the monthly pack, or your team can keep the books and hand over a reconciled trial balance. We agree the handover and review responsibilities in the scope.
